Palolem Beach

Palolem's crescent shape is the reason it shows up on every South Goa postcard. The water is calm enough for swimming most of the year, and the beach huts along the tree line are a step gentler and cheaper than most North Goa equivalents. It gets busier every season, but it's still a fraction of Calangute's crowd.

Agonda Beach

A short drive south of Palolem, Agonda has kept a lower profile — long stretches with barely anyone on them outside peak weeks, and a community of travellers who tend to stay for weeks rather than days. It's also a known olive ridley turtle nesting site during the season.

Colva & Benaulim Beach

Colva is South Goa's most developed beach, with a proper town behind it, while Benaulim just south is quieter and slightly more local in character. Both have wide, flat sand that's easy to walk for long stretches, and neither has the cliffside drama of Vagator — this is beach for beach's sake.

Varca & Cavelossim Beach
